Sent an email to the CNI in Colorado. Hopefully I'll hear back from them about their cochlear implant assistance program and if it's something I really should consider. We'll see how things go.
I was born hearing. I didn't become deaf until November of 1987 when I had contracted HIB bacterial meningitis. This disease left me with a very profound loss in the left ear and severe to profound loss in the right ear. I've worn hearing aids since then, and have generally done well for the most part. I would like to get a cochlear implant someday, if there's any possibility at all to implant the left ear with the ossification.
